No one stormed the barricades that kept vehicles from entering Larchmont Avenue from the Boston Post Road to Addison Street for Bastille Day in the Village of Larchmont on July 14.
Instead, hungry patrons lined up civilly at outdoor booths set up by Auray, Wasabi, España and other food vendors. Children shouted and sang along with entertainers provided just for them.
Shoppers wandered into stores kept open for the evening or patronized stalls set up on the avenue. Trustees from the Village of Larchmont got into the spirit by selling red, white and blue t-shirts declaring: Vive Larchmont!
Yes, we did it, the 2nd annual Bastille Day Celebration was a success with wonderful artists and cooks!
Representing France was Armelle from Poitiers, France who resides in Larchmont with her 2 children. A children Entertainer and Educator, Armelle provides language and music classes to children and adults at various locations. Her fans showed up and cheered as they danced on their favorite tunes in both English and French. “La Vie En Rose” and “La Marseillaise” completed her set while the crowd stood up during the French National Anthem.
