Comments closedLooking for something to do in August? The Village of Mamaroneck Council for the Arts is presenting Sundays in the Park With the Arts. Each week there will be entertainment - an opera, Latin band, swing and dance, and a movie – all for free. Each event runs from 7 to 9 pm on the great lawn stage at Harbor Island Park.
August 8th: New Rochelle Opera Company will celebrate their 25th anniversary at Harbor Island with selections of arias geared toward the young and young at heart.
August 15th: Edgar & Friends. Edgar Riquelme and his band will fill the air with a Latin beat and music from Paraguay, Columbia and other Latin American countries. The band will be joined by Benecio and his harp. Be prepared to dance until dark.
August 22: Reunion and the Mamaroneck Fred Astaire Dance Studio. Don’t put away your dance shoes just yet! Reunion returns to Mamaroneck with Meg from the Fred Astaire Dance Studio to teach you how to swing.
August 29th: Where the Wild Things Are. Bring the kids and a picnic for the highly acclaimed movie, Where the Wild Things Are, based on the classic children’s book by Maurice Sendak. , Nine-year-old Max runs away from home and into the mystical world of his imagination. In the forest, he is the ruler of ferocious furry monsters, but being their leader may not be quite what he expected. Directed by Spike Jonze, this movie runs 101 minutes. Rain date – September 5th.
