Comments closedFor the second year in a row, Mamaroneck High School students competed successfully at the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) National Leadership Conference. This July in Nashville, Tennessee, Harrison Cain, Giancarlo Riso, and Rory O’Connor won sixth place for Business Ethics.

The Business Ethics competition presented teams with an issue or controversial business scenario, and then gave them 20 minutes to prepare before giving a presentation to judges on what they would do in the scenario.
“The anxiety of the moment when I was on stage waiting for them to call my name, and being handed an award, was one I cannot describe in words,” said Rory O’Connor. “When we were announced for 6th place I immediately felt the relief of achieving something that I was attempting to achieve for the last three years of my life.”
All three teammates graduated from Mamaroneck High School in June. To qualify to compete at the national level, they were required to compete first at a state level and win a first or second place, which they did in April when they took first place in New York State.
“The success of Mamaroneck FBLA these past few years has exceeded my expectations.” said Eileen Multari, who retired from Mamaroneck this year after a long teaching career and 30 years as the FBLA advisor. In addition to the Business Ethics prize, Mamaroneck won Chapter of the Year for the third consecutive year as well as many other awards at the state level.
The other students who attended this year’s National Leadership Conference were Jonathan Pomeranz and Josh Saideman for Digital Video Production, and Ben Silverstein for American Enterprise.
FBLA has over 250,000 members worldwide. The National Leadership Conference is hosted each year in a different city in the United States.
